A compilation of road tests from magazines around the world. Very interesting to read diverse takes on our favorite little sports car, the NA Miata. Could be indexed a little better, and the pictures show a surprising amount of generational detail loss, but all in all a great source of historical performance data.

There are two editions of this book!

Just a note of caution:
Notice that the title Amazon lists for this book is "Mazda Miata Mx-5: Performance Portfolio 1989-1996", but the cover reads "Mazda Miata Mx-5: Performance Portfolio 1989-1997" (the difference is in the dates that are covered). There are two editions of this book, and they do have slight, but significant, differences in the contents. Although both editions are the same size (by page count), the 1997 edition adds an article or two, and deletes others. I have the 1989-96 version, and I have enjoyed reading it, but I can't help but wonder what I have been missing!

An eye opening examination of who wields the power today.

William Engdahl's books should have two Cautions; the first, don't start this book unless you have enough time on your hands to finish the book. When you first start reading "Gods of Money: Wall Street and the Death of the American Century" you are quickly engrossed in the main subject of the book, "The power that Wall Street exerts over Washington and even the whole world."

"Gods of Money" is difficult to put down. Each chapter seems to be more revealing than the next. It begins with a not too distant history that predates the Federal Reserve and traces things up to current times. The book is very enlightening regarding the history of power, the way it evolved and how it continues to influence our lives currently.

Unlike many books (here I don't want to single out any author) that asks open ended questions like "Could the huge drawings at Nazca, Peru that can only be seen from the air be a type of signal for visitors from outer space?" when Engdahl presents events, documents or quotations they are carefully and fully documented at the end of each chapter. If you wish to know more on a particular subject then you simply look up the well documented reference (endnote) at the end of the chapter.

The second Caution would be that if you are not prepared to have an experience similar to what transpires with puppies between week one and week two (their eyes are opened) then you should exercise caution regarding the reading of this book.

Most people think that their lives are like a particle in a Brownian movement, buffeted all around by the vicissitudes of life. When you read this book you will understand that life is not like this at all. There are powerful forces that are truly in control just not overt or blatant.

Think for a moment would you ever have believed that we would take $700 Billion of taxpayer's money and bailout Wall Street? It has been said many times that this is "Privatizing the Profits and Socializing the Debt" and to top it all off none of the money was used to buy "Troubled Assets!" They are still on the books. As William Engdahl says in his forward this is not a book to address these financial events, it is a book about Power. I make this point to emphasize that it took a lot of power to make this happen when so much of the public was against it.

Where to from here?

Being 76 years old I have been aware, incrementally, of the sea of greed and corruption our country has been sailing in for most of its history. It is very uncomfortable for me to admit that the crimes committed in the name of Democracy and Freedom are no more than propaganda, bought and paid for with the lives and blood of the citizens not privileged enough to be in the top $250,000/per year income bracket. Our modern elementary education system teaches nothing that protects our kids from the perils and pitfalls of life under the military/industrial/financial/media complex that passes for government in my country.

"Gods of Money", shows that this corrupt system has been around for a long time and its existance cannot be justified by the day dreams of mythologists like Ayn Rand, or snake oil salesmen like Limburger.

I would only hope that this book sheds enough light on our hypocracies that the younger generation can use that light to reveal the path to true government of, by, and for the People of the United States.

Truly accurate!!!!

Having been in the Mortgage industry from 1985 - 2006. This is one of the most honest accounts of the raping of the average middle and under privileged American's I observed. It didn't matter if we reported these abuses to the state mortgage/real estate departments, or Chase, Countrywide, etc. Their answer was if we don't fund it someone else will! Absolutely no regard for the consumer at all. Now we have the king of corporate bankruptcy in charge! God help us all!!!!

About the Author
Dr. U.K. Srivastava obtained his Ph.D. degree in Economics and did post doctoral work at lowa State University, USA. After working at Iowa State University for about 2 years, he joined Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), where he worked for about 20 years (1973-93). After leaving IIMA, Dr. Srivastava started his own consultancy firm in the name of P.S. Management Consultants at Ahmedabad. He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He is also the Chairman of PS Software Services Pvt. Ltd. He is an Adjunct Professor at Taleem Research Foundation (of Zee Group) at Ahmedabad and a Visiting Professor at the IIPM Ahmedabad. He was the Vice President of Institute of Management Consultants of India. He became the founder Hony. Director of the National Institute of Cooperative Management, Gandhinagar (1996-2000). He worked with the World Bank Regional Office in New Delhi in UPDASP Project (1994-1996). He has published 28 books and written more than 50 articles in refereed professional journals. He is currently involved with a World Bank Consultancy Assignment as Team Leader, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&L), NAIP Project (2007-2011).

Dr. G.V. Shenoy was a Professor at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Statistics, Ph.D. degree in OR and Diploma in Computer Programming, all from Bombay University. He is a member of Institute of Statisticians, Suffolk, U.K. He has published several research articles in professional journals and presented research papers at national and international seminars and conferences. She survived by hiding in a Hutu pastor's tiny bathroom with seven other starving women for 91 cramped, terrifying days. This searing firsthand account of Ilibagiza's experience cuts two ways: her description of the evil that was perpetrated, including the brutal murders of her family members, is soul-numbingly devastating, yet the story of her unquenchable faith and connection to God throughout the ordeal uplifts and inspires. Her account of the miracles that protected her is simple and vivid. Her Catholic faith shines through, but the book will speak on a deep level to any person of faith. About the Author

Immacul�e Ilibagiza was born in Rwanda and studied electronic and mechanical engineering at the National University. She lost most of her family during the 1994 genocide. Four years later, she emigrated to the United States and began working at the United Nations in New York City. She is now a full-time public speaker and writer. In 2007 she established the Left to Tell Charitable Fund, which helps support Rwandan orphans.

Immacul�e holds honorary doctoral degrees from The University of Notre Dame and Saint John’s University, and was awarded The Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace 2007. She is the author, with Steve Erwin, of LEFT TO TELL: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust.

"Shining and Beautiful in Body and Soul" Immaculee Ilibagiza: A Grace of God

Immaculee's crucial book "Left to Tell" is beyond an account of the perils of genocide she survived by the Grace of God in Rwanda; Immaculee herself is a Grace of God for humanity.

Her story reaches the core of my being, as it will anyone who has a heart. But it is not just her story that is simultaneously so unfathomable yet so compelling, it is the love and forgiveness she radiates to all who were the killers of her very own family.

Both she and her precious book serve as an example from On High. The Christ-like forgiveness and compassion, the mission to help orphans left alone from the genocide of their parents, and her message of becoming one with God amidst our darkest hours, is indeed a sainted mission.

I applaud Immaculee; her courage in painstakingly detailing her accounts that ultimately created this book; her mission, and the purest love she radiates that is a profoundly bright light doing nothing less than bringing the Light of God into the hearts of humanity.

Life changing book.

This book is such a beautiful reminder of what is important. Love, compassion, and forgiveness, which are available to us all through prayer and meditation. What Imacul�e was able to forgive is so much greater than anything most of us will ever go through, but feelings of resentment are very much the same-regardless of the cause- and so is the solution. She is a great example and a great inspiration.

A touching clear look into faith and forgiveness and it's power to be healed.

Immaculee tells of a story many may not have known. She recounts the genocide taking place in Rwanda in the 1990s. She compares it to the Holocaust and accounts in painful detail what as lucky and blessed Americans, few of us ever have to experience. (As she says, I can't help what I was born.)

She talks of her beautiful country, her parents, the good life they worked hard to have and how she studied so she could be one of few women with a good education and opportunities. She then tells of her experiences of discrimination she did not even know existed but that her whole country fell victim to with evil on both sides. Then she details the graphic violence of an unimaginable war with no rules, code of honor or respect for life, even among lifelong friends.

Her faith, trust in God and his care and her willingness to let go of herself was profound. Her ability to forgive from a true and ernest place is one that runs deeper than one could even imagine. Her belief is that revenge only continues violence and then, when does it stop and when does one feel safe?

This book is heartbreaking and graphically detailed. It is an important book as this genocide / ethnic cleaning / holocaust though controversially labeled, continues to happen in other countries in Africa, like Darfur and Sudan since 2003.

Immaculee questions why the world didn't learn a lesson from the Nazi's and how it happened again to her country. I can only imagine that she wonders how it is still happening in countries in her beautful land of Africa.

I must admit I am not impartial.

This is a nice collection of three captivating short stories. Most avid readers would finish it in a few days. All stories have subjective twists that will take each individual reader on their personal emotional ride. Some will say, "That could never be me!" others will sigh, "How romantic." And though, the stories have a street edge to them, readers of all backgrounds can appreciate the universal themes of destiny, betrayal, and love. There is a hidden treat in all three stories for readers of ancient literature, I challenge you all to identify them and share with friends and your personal book clubs. I am sure you will all enjoy this collection. Additionally, it makes a great gift. Please request this book for Kindle thank you.

Not what I expected

There are 3 stories in this book. Honor Thy Mother and Father, which is about a husband and wife whose expecting there first child but gets a terrible palm reading. That story was ok. Until Death Do Us Part is about a couple who has a drug operation going but a turn of events gets them "stuck".(You have to read it to find out what I mean).And the last story, Hell Comin From Harlem was about a guy who wifed a stripper.I liked the second one most because it came together rather well and I laughed on a few parts. But the last one did nothing for me. It was rather pointless in my opinion plus it didn't have the supernatural theme as the first two. If I had to rate the stories individually i'll rate
Honor Thy Mother and Father *** and half stars,
Until Death Do Us Part ***** stars, and
Hell Comin From Harlem * star.
So I give the overall book *** stars.
