My mother had this book when she was little.

Let me start out by saying that my mother had this book when she was little. She loved this book and still remembers many of these little verses. Such as: "You love yourself, You think you're grand, You go to the movies and hold your hand, You put your arm around your waist, And when you get fresh, You slap your face!"
"Grandma has a habit, Of chewing in her sleep, She chews on Grandpa's whiskers, And thinks it's shredded wheat."

For some reason I picked this book out to buy from the scholastic book sale back in the mid-1960's when I was in the 3rd or fourth grade in Sacramento, CA. I never got it or lost it soon after I got it, I know that something happened. Kids! I was able to read a lot of it and that tells me the kind of person I was even back then. The only other book I remember reading in elementary school, was baseball pals. I checked it out at least 5 times and it was overdue all the time! I always liked witticism and rhymes and the way words could do things that elicited feelings and emotions. I love words to this day and have written and published poetry. Kind of says that we do not change that much in our lives even after almost 50 years!

A crazy little tale. Very good and very comical.

I had my wife download this to the Kindle today, and I read the entire thing in about a half hour. This is one of the craziest short stories I've ever read. It was like a Terry Pratchett character was stuck in a bad acid trip in Las Vegas, with elements of dark, Cthulhu magic as an added bonus. This was a very funny read, and I fully recommend it. Great work, Lee Widener! You never cease to impress.

Lee Widener never takes his foot off the gas pedal on this amazing ride through crazy land. I loved every minute of "David Bowie is Trying to Kill Me!" It's like nothing I've read before and that's always a treat. I laughed until I had to flip back and re-read some pages again, to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Widener's imagination amazes me. Characters spring from everywhere and nowhere and leave the reader dazzled. Write more, Widener, soon! Send it straight to my inbox!

- Largish size (big as any previous), 300 pages packed with prints.

Artwork Balance: overall very good, with worries
- Artists are given 2 page spreads, often in theme, as well as being mixed together. I like this!
- Gold &Silver winners get a full page with photo and commentary. This is nice, but borderline. More would be intrusive.
- Humor is sparse, but there are enough lighter moments. (Little old witch & kitten is delightful)

Wide Spectrum of Artistic Talent

As an artist, you don't want to miss this series of the best artwork of this generation. I know that the art world is very subjective in itself but this magazine needs to be a great visual art inspiration and motivation. I'm reviewing this particular volume but applies to all the volumes produced by Spectrum. Each volume has its own beauty, originality, and just stunning artwork. People that could be a little naive about the sophistication and complexity of the artwork featured should try it and see if you can even get close. I admire the artistry, creativity, and overall presentation of these amazing artists. A great care to showcase the best of the best and how I wish each day that I would be granted with such talent. However, I don't mind being the one appreciating and praising the great work of these current artists. I'm impressed with this magazine that I can't help but express my appreciation and admiration with the magazines' collection or such artwork.

The Spectrum series continues to deliver the very finest in fantasy art, in the widest possible range of styles, media, and venues. Categories include advertising, book art, comics, and more - including my favorites, the 'dimensional,' sculptural works. The styles range from classic realism (or surrealism), to inked line-drawings, to works that evoke medieval tapestries, to ... well, you name it, there are sure to be works here that have elements of it. Loose or literal, colored, B&W, or barely tinted,

The collection, the printing, and the sheer variety earn this highest marks - even if digital media increasingly dominate hard media of the traditional kinds. So, why not that fifth star? Earlier volumes in this series lightened the mood with a rich mix of more whimsical, humorous works. Humor seems in short supply this time. Light works can be just as serious as darker ones, but the general feel of this assembly has a grim edge to it.Still, it's a worthy successor, whether you look for inspiration in your own work or just want to wallow in imagation made real.

Good way to start

This book is a very hot B.A student book in business colleges. Published by Pitman Publishing, it arrived its 6th edition uptill now. The author covers every the most important aspects in modern business administration life.
I read its 5th edition in 1995, when I was in college. It's my startup book for my concurrent career as a business consultant. I am not really sure if the author has plan to update its content recently, as we know that business environment changes violently nowadays. Hope we can read its 7th edition soon.
